I stayed in the Trastevere neighborhood when I was in Rome. Not as touristy as other popular neighborhoods and there are lots of great restaurants and the night life is vibrant.
Lots of water fountains in Rome, quenching the thirst of passer-bys, free of charge.
A taxi driver recommended that I visit Trajan’s Market and Museum of the Imperial Forums and I was happy I took her advise. This museum houses artifacts from the Imperial Forums and gives access to the Trajan’s Market. Must see in Rome.
This fountain is off the beaten path, so to speak, from other Rome attractions, so it does not get the attention anywhere near the level of Trevi, even during the day. A very nice spot to sit and gaze into darkness of Trastevere.
The first night I arrived in Rome, I took a midnight stroll along Tevere River. Warm evening but the breeze made it a pleasant stroll.
