It was rather difficult to make this shot, as it was dark, there was a slight breeze and the ground was not firm as I had to step on some grass (hope I did not step on plants!). I made several shots and this was the best one. This Pampas Grass is found at Helen […]
It would have been interesting to photography how rain actually hit these leaves that are waterproofed for water conserving purpose. Rain dancing, jumping up and down on the waxed leaves. Something to look forward next time it rains.
I’ve passed by this shrub so many times without noticing. But this past Saturday, in a low-light rainy Saturday afternoon, the shrub was emitting fiery glow with red, orange, burgundy, auburn, maroon and all other shades of red. Totally deserve the dramatic cultivar name.
I was walking in my neighborhood of Noe Valley yesterday and found this little house with a fence and gate. The gate had a small window and I peaked into its garden. I thought the small window would frame the house and the photo might turn out interesting. I only had a micro shot lens […]
Not something you would expect from the title. But since it is winter and all, it seems appropriate. By the way, I did not know this plant is called snowflakes. We rarely get snowfall in San Francisco, so this is as close as we get to snowflakes.
It’s rainy and windy this morning in San Francisco. Not a perfect day to wrap up my Christmas shopping…, but it might be good day to stay home and touch up some of my photos, while doing laundry. I don’t like the highlights in this photo and I am not able to do anything to […]
This was a good exercise to make an object pop by blurring the background. Almost feels the lemon is coming at you. It definitely made the green lemon star of this photo and easy for the viewer to understand what this photo is all about.
I like how the rain cleans up a lot of things. It washes cars, streets, leaves, etc. It also brings up colors in nature and surroundings. As much as the natural colors are beautiful, I touched up this photo a little bit to give it more after-the-rain effect.
I realize my posts have been about plants these days. It is a good season to photograph them, since their colors are vibrant and texture interesting. This popular hedge shrub sprouts red new growth in the winter and adds Christmas colors to gardens. You don’t see it here, but fresh growth is very red and […]
In San Francisco, it is hard to notice seasons. Temperature does come down in the “winter” but fluctuates, which must drive trees and all sorts of plants crazy. It drives me crazy. Today, it is 63F, sunny and very comfortable. So, it is very nice to see an evidence of season changing every now and […]
